(Look at my TWA!)
If you're new to my blog, you might not know that I am a naturalista. A naturalista is an independent, creative, kick-ass individual who wears their hair in its natural state. Okay, that might not be the correct definition but it works. My natural hair journey began May 2013 and big chopping August of 2014, a year and three months of transitioning from relaxed hair. I started my journey because of the state of my hair. After receiving numerous chemical burns throughout my scalp, my hair follicles are forever altered. It was severely damaged and would not grow long and healthy.
My hair stylist recommended that I go natural to preserve the hair that I had left. Since then, I have been growing Sheila (my fro) myself without the assistance of a professional using tips I've read online and trial and error. I think trial and error is the most exciting part of the journey.
I began talking about my hair journey on my other blog where I documented my process from relaxed to natural hair. All of those images have been compiled into a video for my YouTube channel. You can watch my Natural Hair Journey here. Since natural hair care is such an important factor in my life, chronicling my trials and tribulations seemed like the smartest idea.
Hope you are as excited as I am. Leave me any questions regarding natural hair down in the comments below. I have a load of ideas I'm planning for the next couple of months.
Talk to you soon!
