Lazy Day Apple Crisp

It's finally cold in Atlanta which is the perfect time to cuddle up with a warm dessert and Netflix! My go-to dessert is apple crisp since I always have apples on hand.  Apple crisp is super easy to make and only takes about 30 minutes from start to finish.

This recipe serves four in regular sized ramekins. If you're not a big fan of oats because of the texture, omit the oats for more flour. Also, melting the butter gives you more of a crunchy crust.

You'll Need...

2 Honey crisp apples
1 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
granulated sugar
sprinkle of salt
dash of nutmeg

Let's get started...

Preheat Oven to 350°F.

Chop two apples into bite sized pieces and place in a large bowl. Add 1/2 cup of brown sugar and stir. Add 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of granulated sugar to the apples. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 teaspoon  of cinnamon, and 1 cup of old-fashioned oats.

Add 1/2 cup of cold butter and mix well with the dry mixture using a fork or your fingers.

Spoon the apples into four ramekins. Add the dry ingredients fully covering the top. Lightly sprinkle granulated sugar onto the tops of each dish.

Set each ramekin on a baking sheet and place in the oven for 20 minutes.

The apple crisp is done when the tops are brown and the apples are soft.

Cool for 5-10 minutes before serving and enjoy!
