Happy Wednesday, Gladiators. It's almost time to uncork the wine, put on your fanciest pajamas and set your televisions to ABC. I live for TGIT. Live. There is no doubt, my favorite time of the week. What better way to celebrate the new season of Grey's, Scandal and HTGAWM than with a big bowl of delicious popcorn?
Now, you can go the classic route, like our girl Olivia, and eat our popcorn plain. Or you can jazz it up a bit. Once you make these delicious recipes, grab your blanket and your favorite vino and consider it handled.
PS. I burnt the popcorn because it's delicious that way.
Garlic Parmesan popcorn
4 tbsp butter or olive oil1/4 cup grated Parmesan
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 bag microwave popcorn
In a saucepan, melt butter or oil. Add garlic and simmer for 3 minutes. Pop your bag of popcorn as directed. In a large mixing bowl pour in your popcorn. Strain melted mixture and Parmesan and toss.
Wine pairing: Chardonnay
Rosemary Sea Salt popcorn
2 tbsp olive oil2 tsp finely chopped rosemary
1/2 tsp fine sea salt
1 bag microwave popcorn
pinch of black pepper (optional)
Pop your bag of plain popcorn as directed. While popping, finely chop one sprig of fresh rosemary. Remove popcorn from bag and add into a large mixing bowl. Drizzle popcorn with oil and add rosemary and sea salt. Toss and enjoy!
Wine pairing: Pinot Noir
*This flavor is extra if you prefer a sweeter popcorn. It's one of my favorites.
Sugar and Spice popcorn
2 tbsp butter1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tbsp sugar
1 bag microwave popcorn
Pop your bag of plain popcorn as directed. While popping, melt butter in a sauce pan. Add in cinnamon and sugar into the melted popcorn. In a large mixing bowl, add the ingredients and toss.
Wine pairing: Sauvignon Blanc or Prosecco
