Peppermint Bath Bombs

This cold weather definitely has me in the mood for a good old soak. What better way to relax than by adding a bath bomb filled with essential oils and bath salts into the tub?



A bath bomb is simply a mix of different acidic products, such as citric acid and baking soda, that fizz once in contact with water. These have been made popular by the cosmetics brand, Lush. Although these bath bombs are amazing, the habit can get quite expensive as one bomb can cost you anywhere from $4.95 to $8.95. If you don't live near a Lush or don't want to spend the money, don't fret. These are actually very easy to make.

You'll Need
1/2 cup Citric Acid

1 cup Baking Soda

3 tbsp Epsom Salt

1/2 cup Corn Starch 

3/4 tsp Water

10 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil

2 tsp Grapeseed Oil

Snap-together Ornament Ball or mold

Red Food Coloring (optional)

Start by mixing all of the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
Mix the wet ingredients together in a separate bowl.
Slowly, mix the wet ingredients into the the dry with a whisk. Too much moisture will activate the bicarbonate ingredients causing it to bubble. Add this very slowly.
Mix with whisk until fully combined. Mixture should be the consistency of damp sand and should clump together when pressed. If the mixture falls apart, slowly add more water.
Fill the mold halves with the mixture overflowing it slightly. The molds should be tightly packed together.
Allow to dry in the mold for 20 minutes on a towel or dry surface before carefully removing the molds.
The bath bombs should set for 8 hours before use.

These are perfect holiday gifts for friends and family. I love how the food coloring tinted the Epsom salt making it look like pieces of peppermint candy inside. So many essential oil combos are running through my mind right now.
